An afternoon project does not have to start with a shopping trip. The Gale Museum’s October 2026 Museum Mashup is a paper-cat craft, with free kits available while supplies last and instructions, a supply list and templates available online during the month.
The city describes Museum Mashup as a recurring family activity suited to preschool and kindergarten-through-third-grade learners. Picking up a kit and completing the project at home can give families flexibility, but availability is limited. Use the current listing or contact the museum before making a trip solely for supplies.
The calendar spans October 1 through 31, which does not mean the building is open every day of that period. Follow the museum’s actual visiting hours and holiday notices; it has announced an October 30 closure. The museum is at 10300 South Beckstead Lane, and admission is free.
At home, let children make choices within the project rather than aiming for identical cats. A different expression, tail or background can become the beginning of a story. Adults can assist with cutting or glue as needed, then ask the maker to explain the cat’s character. The finished object matters less than a manageable stretch of making something together.
